What grows this track: LMGs, shotguns, launchers, and build/repair tools. What you're actually doing: Suppressing and denying ground, breaking fortified positions with explosives, and running the construction/logistics side of the game — FOBs, repairs, and resupply.
What Support does for the squad
Support is the widest role in WARDOGS — it covers heavy suppression (LMGs), close-range denial (shotguns), anti-fortification and anti-vehicle power (launchers), and the entire construction/logistics game (FOBs, mortars, repairs). A squad's Support player is often the one deciding whether a fight turns into a siege your squad can win or a stalemate you bleed cash into.
Starter loadout (under $1,000)
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| MP43 (shotgun) | $400 |
| GGX 17 (sidearm) | $200 + unlock |
| Repair Tool | $150 |
| Build Supplies ×2 | $20 |
$770 gets you close-range denial power plus the tools to start contributing to a FOB immediately.
That's the weapon, not the kit. A gun in WARDOGS is sold empty. Before you spawn, add two magazines, an ammo box for its calibre, a bag to carry them (the Field Backpack at $650 is the best early buy — 9 slots), and the Emergency Resuscitator, which is free. Full walkthrough: How To: Buy a Weapon.
What it earns
A supply pallet costs about $400 and delivering it to the Hot Zone pays roughly $2,500, with around $1,800 more if a teammate builds a FOB from it. That's a six-fold return on a purchase requiring no combat. See How To: Make Money.
The GGX 17 is $200 at the vendor but needs a one-time $5,000 unlock at Career Lvl 1 — reachable immediately, but half your starting bank. No sidearm in the game is unlock-free. See How To: Buy a Weapon.
Growing into it
- M249 SAW ($3,200) or PKM ($4,500) for genuine suppression fire — heavy, slow to move with, devastating to hold a lane with.
- RPG-7 ($2,000), MAAWS ($2,600 — reusable tube), or MGL-40 ($6,000 — 6-shot) for anti-vehicle and anti-fortification power.
- C4 Charge ($250) + Remote Detonator ($550) for deliberate demolition of enemy structures or vehicles.
- Forward Operating Base deployment item ($2,500) once you're ready to be the one placing FOBs, not just supplying them.
How to play it well
- Suppress to enable your Assault players, not to farm kills. An LMG holding a lane so your Assault squad can move safely is doing its job even with zero kills that life.
- Use launchers on structures and vehicles, not just infantry. Tanks blow holes through walls; your launcher can do the same to enemy fortifications and light vehicles.
- Carry resource supplies even when you're not building. Ammo Supplies, Fuel Supplies, and Mechanical Supplies are $10 each — running a stack to a stranded vehicle or an under-resourced FOB is nearly free and hugely valuable.
- Learn FOB placement basics even if Engineering isn't your main focus. See Building a FOB — a Support player who understands placement is a Support player who can drop an emergency FOB when the dedicated builder is down.
Common mistakes
- Running an LMG like an assault rifle — repositioning too often instead of holding and suppressing a lane.
- Never carrying the $10 resource supplies, so a friendly FOB or vehicle sits unsupplied when you're standing right next to it.
- Using launchers only on other infantry instead of on the fortifications and vehicles they're actually best against.
- Forgetting the Repair Tool exists — a Support player who can patch a damaged vehicle mid-fight changes engagements.
Drills to run
- Suppression discipline: hold one position with an LMG for an entire engagement without repositioning, purely to enable a teammate's push.
- Resource carrying habit: for one full match, always carry at least 2 of each $10 resource supply and actively look for a FOB or damaged vehicle to spend them on.
- Structure targeting: practice using a launcher specifically against a wall, fortification, or light vehicle instead of infantry, to build a feel for what it actually destroys.
