Reading the HUD & Map

What every icon and readout means before you get overwhelmed.

WARDOGS gives you a lot of information at once. Here's what to actually look at.

The map

  • Control Zone outline — a large marked area (2×2 km) showing where the current fight is. This moves match to match; there's no fixed "main objective" location.
  • Hot Zone marker — a smaller, roaming highlight inside the Control Zone. Standing in it doubles your cash and point value. It moves during the match, so don't treat it as a fixed spot.
  • Faction positions — with three factions active, watch for where the other two teams are relative to each other, not just relative to you. The team not currently fighting anyone often has the easiest path to points.
  • FOB markers — your team's (and spotted enemy) Forward Operating Bases, useful for routing resupply runs or planning an attack.
  • Vehicle spawn/vendor icons — where you can buy and pull vehicles.

The bank / economy readout

  • On-screen bank — your current cash total, visible at all times so you always know what you can afford to rebuy.
  • Currency pickups — cash and gold bar pickups that appear on the ground; gold bars relate to the endgame Gold Exchange system, separate from your spendable match cash.

Squad and voice indicators

  • Proximity voice range indicator — shows who can hear you speak in-world (anyone nearby, friend or foe).
  • Squad channel indicator — separate from proximity chat; this is your private squad-only comms, always available regardless of distance.
  • Squad member markers — position and status (alive/downed/dead) of your squadmates specifically, distinct from the wider team.

Combat & vehicle HUD

  • Ballistics info — WARDOGS uses real-world-style ballistics with bullet drop and travel time, so expect a drop indicator or reticle adjustment prompt at range, especially on marksman and sniper weapons.
  • Vehicle status — fuel level, ammo count (for armed vehicles), and health/damage state. Vehicles can be resupplied and repaired mid-match — see Repairing a Vehicle.
  • Construction radius indicator — shown near a deployed FOB, marking where you're allowed to build attached structures.

Hardcore mode differences

If you're playing Hardcore instead of Standard, expect the HUD to be deliberately reduced:

  • No killcam
  • Fewer HUD elements overall
  • Kill feed locked to your squad only (you won't see the whole server's kill feed)
  • Vehicles can only be driven from a first-person view

See Modes: Standard vs. Hardcore for the full comparison.
