How To: Revive and Extract a Downed Squadmate

Reviving teammates and extracting alive — turning a death into a save, and getting paid for it.

Why this matters

Reviving pays cash directly — it's not just a favor to a teammate, it's a rewarded action on the same tier as combat kills. A squad that revives well effectively has more lives than one that doesn't.

Steps

  1. Assess the position before committing. A revive is a time commitment during which you're vulnerable. If the spot is still under active fire, reposition or drag your teammate to cover first if the game allows it, rather than reviving in the open.
  2. Call your intent over voice. Let your squad know you're going for the revive so they can cover you or redirect fire.
  3. Use the right tool for the situation. A Defibrillator ($1,600) gives a fast, near-instant revive; a Medical Bag ($2,000) heals and revives more gradually but can sustain multiple teammates; a Stim Pen ($250) is the cheap, always-affordable fallback with a decaying-health tradeoff.
  4. Prioritize tactically, not just by proximity. If multiple teammates are down, revive whoever's loss hurts your position most (e.g., the Support player holding a chokepoint) rather than automatically the nearest one.
  5. Extract if the position isn't holdable. Sometimes the right call after a revive is to fall back together rather than re-engaging immediately from a compromised position.

Common mistakes

  • Reviving in the open under fire instead of repositioning first.
  • Never upgrading past the basic Stim Pen, limiting how many teammates you can realistically save per life.
  • Reviving by pure proximity instead of tactical priority during a multi-down squad wipe.
  • Forgetting to call out that you're committing to a revive, leaving your squad unable to cover you.
